It took a New Yorker from Texas to convince the staff of the Madison (WI) Children's Museum that cows would be great content for an interactive exhibition. To show the rich content this topic offered, I went to dairy farms, artificial insemination plants, dairy farmer coops, Vet Med Schools and early morning milking at 5AM with my museum colleague, Brenda Baker.

From Amish traditional cheese-makers to the high tech dairies which make Dove Bars, we interviewed cow-vets, cheese vendors and cheese heads! Visitors viewed the complex stomachs of cows and inside a silo. They groomed and milked cows and ended their visits with a stint packing cheeses in myriad sizes or playing soda-jerk at the International Dairy Bar.
