Presentations about cultures come in all shapes and sizes; some are exhibitions or performances others envelop audiences through listening, watching or simply absorbing whatever is being presented. Culture "happens" everywhere - at a stadium, a street corner, a restaurant, kitchen, classroom, church, mosque or synagogue. Regardless of scale or location, cultural events demonstrate aspects of an intricate network of human inventions, customs, language, history and expressions shared by a group of people. This is the essence of culture. Every time we do something to create settings in which more can be learned about a people and their cultural expressions, the closer we are to understanding and respecting one another. I believe that exhibitions and museums play essential roles in creating rich opportunities to encounter the complexities, fascination and the beauty of human diversity.
